Letter to the Editor
Is it conceivable that Campbell Newman seems not to be concerned that his numbers seem to be falling is the Ashgrove electorate because he plans to be Premier without actually holding a seat in the Queensland parliament? Granted it sounds too silly for words but look at the current situation where he assumes the leadership of the Opposition without a seat in parliament.
The political system in Australia has never seen anything like it and hopefully never will again. This shows a complete disregard for the will of the Queensland people and their opinions. The Liberal Party has managed to capture the National Party without winning seats because Lawrence Springborg was not allowed to be re-elected as the leader due to outside influence. Queensland democracy has been compromised before, but never in this manner.
Campbell Newman’s arrogance knows no bounds; I do not believe that the Queensland people will vote for him. We as a State do want a change; however we need to be very careful when we vote, we were once the laughing stock of Australia because of the government we had. Personally I will either be voting for The Greens or Katter’s Australian Party because I have seen LNP government in the past and am not impressed. A protest vote for a minor party or for a good independent seem the most beneficial to Queensland at this stage.
