Letter to the Editor
As an organization the Queensland LNP has produced mixed results in the past month. Firstly they produced an overwhelming election result in Queensland, followed swiftly by the sacking of their first Ministerial scalp. Next came startling revelations from one of their senators staffers concerning male superiority and lastly but certainly not least, allegations against the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Peter Slipper who had long been a part of the Qld LNP.
Just last year Opposition Leader Tony Abbott had praised Peter Slipper as a good bloke and a good politician, now Mr. Abbott has turned on Mr. Slipper, hardly the expression of loyalty for a long serving conservative political colleague. Tony Abbott should be the last person in Australia giving lectures on moral fibre, after all if was he who was having unmarried sex while in training for the Catholic priesthood, can there be a better example of hypocrisy?
Attack, attack, attack seems to be the only policy that the conservatives (LNP, L&NP) have, sadly good administration of a State or a nation needs positive progressive policy, not continual negative carping. In both instances the State LNP and the federal L&NP have had many years to develop policy and argue for its implementation, sadly neither state or federal body have done so, leaving the public in a very uncertain position in Queensland, so much so that by the time the next federal election rolls around the public may be very skeptical about electing an Abbott government.
