The latest OECD

Letter to the Editor

The latest OECD financial report shows Australia out in front of the pack with our economy leading the world in the next 2 years with low unemployment, low government debt on a GDP basis and low inflation with a huge investment pipeline for our future prosperity.

Whatever poultry points that the Federal Opposition has scored in the past 5 years it simply can’t avoid the facts that this Labor government has seen Australia through the global financial crisis in an equitable way so far with much better results than the balance of the developed world. Had the L&NP been in control of our economy in the same period of time we would more likely than not have a vastly different lifestyle at present.

That our current government has managed by various schemes to keep the Australian economy afloat and growing is an undeniable credit to them, the OECD has also recognized that the Australian budget will be back in the black this time next year, which are an incredible performance and a master class in economic management for Australian L&NP/LNP governments.

Instead of constantly knocking the Australian economy as the Opposition constantly does they should take a leaf out of Labor’s book and have faith in their nation and invest in their nation as the current federal government has, this is the way to success, not the class system advocated by the conservatives of cutting workers wages to increase the profits of the rich, but rather spread the prosperity around to all and sundry.

Shaun Newman
