Letter to the Editor
“You Decide” shouts at us through the front page on the Townsville Bulletin 05.08.13 and also provides a brief explanation of what our candidates for Herbert actually stand for, which to a degree at least counters the commercial TV network who are telling us that News Ltd newspapers have been instructed by Rupert Murdoch to favor the LNP in this election campaign.
I really can’t decide which of the parties to give my first preference to. I don’t support the conservative side of politics however I can see the value of both the KAP and the PUP to open conversations about issues that have not been spoken about before. I also like the published philosophy of both the ALP and The Green Party. I am in favor of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (Disability Care Australia) and believe that a government has a responsibility to all of its citizens whether they are disabled or not.
Also I believe the NBN Co will make an enormous difference to ordinary people’s ’ives if it is allowed to go ahead in its current form. I fear a return to WorkChoices Mk2 under a coalition government, where all of the hard won benefits that Australian workers over the decades have won will be taken away, a very unfair situation for most people who rely on overtime and penalty rates to make up a decent pay packet.
We in Queensland have seen the austerity approach from our State LNP government of hospitals running on skeleton staffs and Queensland Community Health likewise for allied Health professionals. Queensland’s economy has slipped since the election of an LNP government in Queensland and I would hate the same pain to be inflicted Australia wide for all Australian’s.
