Letter to the Editor
If this federal election concerns trust, it would seem that the government has clearly set out its policies such as the National Disability Insurance Scheme and the Better Schools Program (Gonski reforms) to name just a couple of initiatives whereas the LNP seem to be hiding their policies and their costings. We have seen a glimpse into LNP policy in the form of the extremely generous paid parental leave scheme which punishes 1.3 million poorer Australian families by removing the school kids bonus which enables us to afford to send our children to school, is that fair?
Mr Hockey and Mr Robb ( Shadow Treasurer and Shadow Finance Minister)have both, in the past used the $70 Billion figure as the amount that an LNP government would need to cut services and of course the people who deliver those services. Where will those cuts be made? Will they, if they were to win government, cut further into the public health budget, as Mr Abbott did when he was Health Minister in the Howard government? It is time for Aussies to think again, to think about the threat to the NDIS and to the Better Schools plan, (your child’s education) and wonder if both will be axed under an Abbott government only to achieve an accountant’s balanced ledger?
I urge all Aussie to think about change, real change for the better, not for the worse, low income families 1.3 million of us will be looking to the average voter to show some compassion and empathy for our plight and understand that the loss of the School Kids Bonus under an Abbott government will likely send us to the wall. In fact the hypocrisy is breathtaking, on one hand the LNP is saying that people have an entitlement problem, that we expect too much from government, then low and behold they bring forward one of the most generous entitlement programs on Earth for high income earners at the cost of poorer families, this is, in my humble opinion absolutely ridiculous, unfair and negates trust.
