Letter to the Editor
The Queensland so called anti-bikie laws will be struck down by the High Court because they are unconstitutional as all Australians are guaranteed freedom of movement and freedom of association under the federal constitution. The government have existing laws with which to deal with ‘all’ criminals, as I see it, staffing levels within the Queensland Police Service along with many other government departments need increasing.
As part of the 14,000 plus public servants sacked in 2012, senior police with years of experience were consigned to the unemployment lines taking with them the acquired knowledge of decades of policing. I have never had an experience with a bikie acting in an unlawful way, and I very much doubt that the overwhelming majority of the population is likewise.
The Queensland LNP government should continue to build numbers in the public service especially in Health and Policing, but also in Education which our community is currently being deprived of, this is the saddest period that I can remember since the Joh gerrymander. The quality of politicians on both sides of the fence is the poorest that I can recall, State and Federal since 1975.
