I was surprised to see that the NSW LNP have chosen not to contest the upcoming by-elections of Newcastle and Charleston whose LNP holders have both resigned from the NSW parliament in disgrace due to ICAC corruption hearings.
This appears to me, to be admitting by omission, that the NSW branch of the Liberal and National parties are so corrupt that they could not find a person with clear credentials to contest the elections. The Labor Party also has issues with corruption though I assume that not all the members of that party in NSW are tainted with the corruption brush, and that they will be able to run candidates in both these by-elections.
