It would seem that the reckless conservative ideology of ‘privatize at any cost’ with publicly owned assets is beginning to raise questions concerning the push from the Abbott/Turnbull LNP federal government. In the past couple of weeks we have seen the wisdom of the Darwin port being in the control of the Chinese questioned, especially with a company close to the Chinese communist party, could this action be a threat to national security? Also mentioned was the possible takeover of the NSW electricity grid by overseas interests, what exactly could this mean for national security if Australia were placed on a war footing? Australia is also selling agricultural land to the highest bidder, surely this rampant ideology must be bought into a logical sphere, and we already have enough to be concerned about without the ‘privatize at any cost’ ideology. The LNP seem to be against ‘public’ anything, health, education, hospitals, electricity grids and ports just to name a few. It seems that they think that private enterprise should run everything, much as it does in the USA. In my humble opinion some areas are better administered by government than greedy businesses. The LNP have changed their salesman but not their ideology and until such time as their ideology changes in favour of its people we take the risk of overseas governments controlling huge swathes of Australia’s sensitive infrastructure.
